In our ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and transparency within our union, I directed the accounting department to integrate cutting-edge software solutions; we're streamlining processes and gaining real-time insights into our financial data. Additionally, we have implemented rigorous training programs to ensure our staff is adept at utilizing these tools effectively. These advancements signify our commitment to financial stewardship and lay the foundation for a stronger, more agile union poised for continued growth and success.
Entering the office, we quickly learned that our union was not keeping pace with the demands of our membership. I consolidated departments and created The Data Processing department, which focused on accuracy, efficiency, and security. In an ever-evolving digital landscape, the Data Processing department remains committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence, driving innovation, and contributing to the union's mission of serving its members with distinction.
SMART-TD has one of the most extensive legislative organizations in the labor movement.
Serving as an LR for my home local gave me insight and appreciation of the importance of a robust legislative department. When elected, I ran on a promise to revitalize training and bring new resources as we championed our cause from the municipal boardroom to the halls of Congress.
I believe in our legislative department and will always be its strongest supporter.
I saw an opportunity to bridge the communication gap between our members and leadership. Recognizing the crucial role effective communication plays in fostering transparency and unity, I prioritized building a robust PR department from the ground up. We spearheaded the recruitment of talented professionals who are passionate about amplifying our union's voice. We developed comprehensive communication strategies, revitalized our online presence through engaging social media campaigns, and established regular newsfeeds to keep members informed and involved.
Revitalizing training within our union has been a personal mission fueled by my unwavering passion for empowering our members with the necessary knowledge and skills. I've championed a comprehensive overhaul of our training programs. Drawing upon my sincere belief in the potential of lifelong learning, From interactive workshops to immersive regional training seminars, every initiative is infused with innovation, aiming to equip our members with the tools and expertise necessary to navigate evolving challenges and seize opportunities. This dedication to revitalizing training reflects my commitment to individual growth and my vision of a union empowered by a skilled, resilient workforce ready to shape the future with confidence.
My Mission is to promote the growth and solidarity of the SMART Transportation Division. We
strive to educate and inspire our members to become more active participants in their union. This department has been rebuilt and structured to be efficient and serve YOU. We
tirelessly recruit like-minded new members to create a powerful and effective Union that
advances the cause of Transportation Workers everywhere, providing them with a stronger,
collective voice. Embracing diversity and creating an inclusive culture will strengthen our
organization and assist membership retention and growth.
On day one of my administration, the railroads attacked our members, demanding crew reductions nationwide. WE FOUGHT AND WON! Today, our crew-consist agreements still protect minimum crew standards. Experience matters, and carriers are always looking for weaknesses. My team has the battle scars and experience to fight this battle. I will keep that same fire and drive our members deserve as we begin national negotiations. I WILL NOT BACK DOWN! WE WILL SUCCEED AGAIN!
Our union stands as THE beacon of excellence, boasting the most formidable General Committees in the transportation sector. The arbitration strategies implemented by my administration at the NRAB have made SMART-TD the most successful our union has been in decades. No more are we satisfied with arbitration awards without backpay. SMART-TD today is collecting backpay at unprecedented levels and amounts. As I pledged before, I renew the call to arms; General Committees will have our full support and every resource will be brought to bear while defending our members. Our GCAs have excelled in representing our members, and I will ensure this administration remains laser-focused on fighting for our members. I am honored to receive the unanimous support of the General Chairperson’s Committee.
